HostGator is one of my three hosting providers and it has been good since I got it 7 months ago. I’ve never had a big issue with them and the uptime is above average.

AVOID HOSTGATOR!!!!! The other day I received an rude message from hostgator asking me backup all my files because they were closing my account in 24 hours.
Then I replied asking what had happened and they said I didn’t follow the TOS and if I want to I could get a dedicated server to keep the service with them.

SCAMMERS!!!!

why do they offer unlimited space if you can’t use it without “breaking the rules” of their TOS.

Well, since I have never had a problem with Hostgator I’d stick with them forever. they offer me unlimited domains and the support is good. The bid deal is that you can’t overuse their services or they will force you to upgrade or delete you account. In this case I suggest that you buy a premium plan such a reseller or even a VPS to save more time

Another issue I had with them was that they don’t allow CHMOD 777. If you CHMOD 777 any file then you will get errors come up on the page when you try to load it. I spoke to their staff and they said that you need to submit support tickets and they do for you. waster of time.

Besides that, their pricing is good for the service they offer. They billed exactly what was supposed to and the support center answer my questions pretty quickly.

I have been with Hostgator for the past 2 years, and I have never had any major problems. I’ve contacted support twice, and each time they came back promptly. Their price is reasonable for the features they have to offer and if you need upgrade your existing account they will help you.

Many people complain about not being able to do certain things (such as overload servers), but you have to understand they all the hosting companies do the same.

If you think you will need extra space or bandwidth, then you’re certainly better off getting a dedicated server or use one of the cloud hosting companies, such as amazon’s ec2/s3 for example.

I recommend Hostgator!

We’ve been working with them for about 8 months now, in this period the website was down for 3 times in a very short period of time. Nothing to worry about.

The only time I need to talk to customer service was when I bought their service and they were very helpful.
